House of Q History
The first Premium Seasonings spice mix launched is with a recipe shared from House of Q’s good friend Herb McBride from Arizona. The “steak spice” Peppered Bovine quickly has become the favoured for many steak grillers!
House of Q returned to the Canadian National BBQ Festival in Whistler, BC and was awarded first place burger for the second time (first time was in 2013). The burger became a featured recipe in Grilling With House of Q, BBQ Brian Misko’s cookbook.
With a new cookbook coming onto store shelves, an extensive travel schedule across Canada and a growing demand for the House of Q BBQ sauces and spices, Greg Ewart joins as a Manager of Sales and Operations.
BBQ Brian’s first cookbook Grilling With House of Q was released in April of 2015 and by the summer, it was declared a national bestseller by the Globe and Mail! The book is a collection of recipes, stories and cooking tips.
House of Q ventured to Las Vegas, NV to compete at the World Food Championships where 70 or so BBQ teams from around the world compete for top prize. BBQ Brian and House of Q were awarded first place ribs. The team finished in 7th place overall. This was the…Read More
Amongst 90 or so teams representing 26 countries, House of Q was awarded 6th place for their pork entry at the Jack Daniel’s World Invitational BBQ Championships in Lynchburg, TN. The team was awarded top international team for pork.
House of Q continued to dominate on the BBQ competition circuit with BBQ Grand Championships at Cloverdale Cowboy Cookoff (Surrey, BC), BBQ on the Bow (Calgary, AB) and BBQ off the Bypass (Langley, BC). Being graced with a second place award for Slow Smoke Gold BBQ Sauce amongst many entries in the most competitive BBQ sauce competition around is one accomplishment BUT DOING IT TWICE! Yes, Slow Smoke Gold awarded number 2 again in Kansas City at the American Royal World Series of BBQ!
It took a few years to finally accomplish the task, but House of Q was awarded Grand Champion at the 2013 BBQ on the Bow in Calgary, AB.
Although there are a number of categories for BBQ sauces, one of the competitive ones is the mustard category. Slow Smoke Gold BBQ Sauce is awarded 2nd place amongst 400 sauces at the American Royal World Series of BBQ in Kansas City, MO.
