Celebrate Canada with a Spicy Twist

It’s time to let you in on a little secret: tomato-and-vinegar based barbeque sauces don’t have to be used strictly on meat. You might not be used to using barbeque sauce on anything that isn’t intended for the grill, but trust BBQ Brian when he says they’re the perfect spice to add to a classic Canadian cocktail: the caesar. A close sister to the Bloody Mary, the caesar uses clamato juice instead of tomato juice and is uniquely Canadian. Try ordering a caesar in the States and you’ll most likely end up with a salad.

All Right Canada: BBQ Sauce for Your Cocktail!

Mixing up this classic cocktail with a tomato-and-vinegar-based barbeque sauce will not only pair well with what you grill on the barbeque, it’ll wow  your friends. Best paired with a vodka-based caesar, tomato-and-vinegar based barbeque sauces are an excellent alternative to hot sauce.

A Classic Vodka Caesar

To start off, blend the amount of vodka that you’ll need for your drinks with your favourite tomato-and-vinegar-based barbeque sauce (BBQ Brian suggests Rock’n Red, it’s tried and tested). Similar to using traditional hot sauce, the more you add, the spicier it’ll be.

When your vodka is ready to go, toss a few ice cubes into the bottom of your glass and pour in the desired amount of vodka. Squirt a little Worcestershire sauce in. Stir. Top it off with clamato juice. Then give it a little flare and class by adding a celery stalk. The more adventurous meat lover can also try a pepperoni stick, a stick of beef jerky or candied bacon.

Once the drinks are made and the meat is grilling, you can kick your feet up and relax. Keep your Canadian theme rolling by playing these songs by Canadian artists in the background.
