On Saturday, August 3rd the 12th Annual Backyard Burger Championship was held at the Canadian National BBQ Championships in Whistler, BC. House of Q is pleased to announce that we have been awarded first place for our burger!
The burger, crafted by Valerie Bielenda (Brian Misko’s sister) was only her second contest entry. Her first entry was again in the burger category in Whistler in 2011 where her burger won third place.
This years burger celebrates the combination of BC beef, a lot of bacon, whiskey cheddar cheese and without surprise, four of the award winning House of Q sauces and rub.
BBQ Brian Misko, Head Pitmaster at House of Q, says his sister “has a real knack crafting great flavour especially with burgers”. “She has a connection balancing the combination of sweet, savory and textural components like crunch and chewy.” “Remarkable for a home-cook who simply likes cooking burgers.”
The contest is hosted by Dusty’s Bar and BBQ and the winner of the burger contest gets to have their burger featured on the restaurant’s menu. Dusty’s is known with local residents and thousands of visitors around the globe as the apres ski establishment with a draw for live music. It will be a fantastic opportunity for House of Q, Dusty’s Bar and BBQ and their patrons to taste our award winning burger along with our award winning sauces and spice.
